History of Sea World
Sea World opened its doors to the public in 1973 and became the home of the famous killer whale Shamu, Sea World also have coaster rides and many shows with dolphins and other marine animals. Busch Gardens owns the Sea World Park and provides family entertainment to nine parks throughout the world. In 2005 Sea World began adding another water park to Sea World in Florida to add to the already Discovery Cove water park.
Sea World provides funding for saving and rescuing whales, sea lions and dolphins that need help after stranded because of some reason or another. They try to raise awareness about the endangered manatees and other marine life. With the sister park Discovery Cove, Sea World provides entertainment and water rides with the tallest and longest, fastest roller coaster around, Kraken has provided hours of excitement and thrills for many.
Shamu the Killer Whale
Shamu the whale best known for the extraordinary performances at all Sea World became the highlight of all theme parks for Sea World There is more than one killer whale, which is an Orca whale. They use the name as a trademark to promote the show. Of all the parks together, they hold fifty-five percent of the Orcas in captivity today, which sparks confrontations from activists to free the whales.
The shows preformed with the killer whales have left some trainers with injuries and some deaths. This practice performs differently over the years to prevent accidents and scary shows that were witnessed by audiences.
Tillikum was sent to Sea World Orlando after the death of a trainer in 1991, in 1999 an after hours stowaway jumped in the tank and was dragged to his death on the bottom of tank and killed by the same killer whale. This resulted in tighter security and a stricter guideline on how the whales receive training and the interaction between trainer and killer whales.
Shows that leaves one Feeling Content
Swim with the dolphins, watch the killer whale performance or watch the penguins perform, Sea World offers great shows and attractions for the whole family. Another attraction added to Sea World, is the manatees, which are an endangered marine animal. The Clydesdales horses also roam the Sea World environment as Anheuser Busch owns and operates these theme parks.
